Gwern writes about things in his life that have improved in the last thirty years. It's surprising how many annoying problems have been solved in the last few decades. Here are some annoyances that disappeared during my own lifetime:

no longer needing to clean computer mice weekly thanks to laser mice
not getting lost while frantically driving down a freeway; or anywhere else, for that matter
we no longer need to strategize which emails to delete to save space

Of course, we rarely take the time to revel in our new-found productivity. Hedonic adaptation ensures that we quickly get used to the convenience of modern life and forget how much more tedious life was even a decade ago.
