Playa Grandi is a small beach in the north of Curacao. The beach is mostly used by fishermen but tourists have also started to visit it to witness an interesting phenomenon.
The fishermen clean and cut up the catch and sell it right on the beach. The scraps are thrown into the sea, which draws hungry marine life. The most interesting of these are sea turtles.
Seeing the turtles up close is incredibly easy here – you just come to the beach between 10am and 4pm and get into the water. You will probably spot them in fairly shallow water, nibbling on the carcasses of fish that lie on the sea floor.
The water is crystal clear so visibility is great. Here's a video I took of them:
